Purely decorative

So I fell in love with this little dress I found at Runo Runo. I love little shops with a boutique-ish feel to them. When it’s combined with dirt cheap prices, you just can’t go wrong. Truthfully this is a dress that I would wear in RL, if I had some really hot gig to go to (lately, LOL I don’t). I love the flapperish feel to this dress and the floaty layers. When I see stuff Iike this I think vintage/art deco. It came in black but I went with the ivory. Since it seemed one long drape of white, I used the 100% dramatic Diabla makeup from Chai (yes okay, it’s true love) and some standout accessories, like the tortoiseshell bangles. Confession time – if you’re the shy type, this dress might not work for you, your backside is sort of visible! You could go with some ivory tights on the underwear layer or just go for it! This dress comes on many confusing layers, and I had to play around for a while to get the look I was going for. I found the hair while trapped at Aden’s (I mean if you’re gonna get trapped on the grid, good place to be stuck). The transaction problems lightened up long enough for me to buy it! On Optimism

So I’ve been hooked on cable network news all weekend, watching all the festivities surrounding the inauguration of Barack Obama in the US, and feeling more optimistic then usual. You see by nature, I’m an optimist. I like bright, sunny things. Action movies with happy endings. Large family parties with goofy relatives (doesn’t everyone have a crazy uncle?). Puppies and rainbows, that so describes me. I drive my hubby crazy. The best argument we ever got in was while walking down a street in San Francisco, talking about a topic I cannot even recall, and I growl at him, ‘you’re such a fuckin pessimist’ to which he growled back, ‘you’re such a fuckin optimist,’ at which point we both burst out laughing, kissed and made up. So I cannot help but feel optimistic about the future of my country. On that note, I stuck it out at the lucky chair at Royal Blue last night, cause I REALLY wanted the great boots that Marni Grut made. About a week or two ago, there was a sale at Royal Blue – all the blue stuff was $10L. I bought all the blue stuff LOL. Lovely and imaginative clothing is the best description that comes to mind. So I was thinking about optimism, and feeling optimistic and remembered this great dress and there you go. Outfit credits are below the picture.

The newness is here!

Hey! I have a bunch of new stuff. All set out and ready to be snagged. It’s a bit of a mixed bag at the moment, as I was working on a very traditional, primmy piece, decided I hated it, and went on to do some FUN and colorful pieces. I’ve got a Big Flower necklace and earrings set, featuring an erm, big flower..AND a lovely Hearts & Love set, just in time for Valentines day. I really like this piece – it comes with a pair of rather complicated and fun earrings. I’ve also done animal print belts, just to follow up on my release of animal print bangles and earrings. Last but not least a bit of a redesign and re-release of the some earrings that I made a while ago, and still love, the Bamboo & Lotus Bangles and Earrings set. Yes, I’m building stuff! I’m just being lax in the boxing up and selling stuff part! Lately I’ve been shopping. Alot. I dunno why either – I mean I like to shop, but lately I find myself eager to find new stuff. Something different, fun. There’s a lot out there, I encourage everyone to get out there and look! I’ve been shopping at Ibizarre lately, the overall look of the clothing really appeals to me. The Ravenna dress I bought there is fun and different, I love the different patterns on the different pieces. Oddly enough I combined it with two things in my inventory that are kind of trusted oldies but goodies. The Celestial Studio Cowgirl hair and my biker boots from Draw Machine. I threw on the latest piece I’m working on which is a long necklace with a glass art style heart on it. I’ve been making heart stuff for Valentines day! Found some lovely freebie stockings from Sheer which I picked because the red lips pull out the color from the necklace and add a bit of punch to the whole look. Oh and something different! The poses are from Tuli. Did you know that Tuli makes poses too? I sure didn’t – I love them! LOL they are right up in front in the store. I guess I was always distracted by the skins! Just having fun.

I am working on new stuff, I swear. It’s just sometimes, I get snagged on stuff and can’t move forward. I was working on this one piece, hugely primmy, detailed crap, and decided upon completion, that I didn’t like it. So there it sits in my inventory – till I suddenly have a lightbulb that lets me move forward with it. I was cruising around shopping with my gal pal Avi, and she introduced me to this great store, WMD. While wandering there – I came upon JuJu’s closet. Now I’ve been informed that I apparently live under a rock (imagine big, cheesey grin here). I loved JuJu’s and if I was a guy, OMG I’d so be at WMD. Anywho got these great pieces and they go nicely with a new thingy I’m working on, that I do like….and then shopping again, and came upon the MUST HAVE hair at gritty kitty, what with new purchases and new skins my linden balance is looking a little well, weak these days.

Vintage Elegance.

I love cheongsam’s. For me, this is a totally vintage and elegant look. There’s something about the lines of this style that just appeal to me. I have many of these in my inventory, for no apparent reason as I never have the opportunity to wear them! Pixeldolls is having a $50L dress sale. I was inspired to buy out the store. Then I was inspired to play dress up. Not only did I get 3 more cheongsam’s but I bought a bunch of other stuff too! I think if you have a new SL friend who’s trying to build a wardrobe, you need to take them to Pixeldolls. Not only for the $50L dress sale – there are ton of things sprinkled throughout the store that have been marked down to $10L, not to mention being close to the Chai skin outlet! Skins in the outlet are $250L! Really for a new person in game, this is an awesome deal for a great skin. The earrings and bracelet are something I’ll be re-releasing soon.

Egad. I’m having a love affair.

I can’t seem to stop myself! I love animal prints, I’m suddenly enthralled. I really don’t know how much longer this can go on. I ran into someone whilst wearing this outfit and they said, you need to blog that. So here, I go! This outfit contains three elements that I almost always wear, all the time. The Bonita hair from ETD, which is a freebie, my Ingenue cigarette pants, and the tie at the waist shirt from Slink that I picked up at a sale not too long ago. A day of shopping and frustration

I was drawn to Tableau the other day by a new release on the feeds by Church of Luxe. I did get the coolest outfit there and will no doubt show it off shortly, but while there, I also picked up the most adorable top at Nylon Outfitters. This is the type of outfit I would wear in RL for a day of shopping. I ALSO picked up the cutest hair eveh from Curio. You know I never noticed it before at the Curio main store, I think because I’m always so distracted by the skins. So here’s my Saturday outfit. Maybe a bit on the cuteness overload. Goes great with my new ‘Trinity’ make-up from Chai. OMG – I bought three new skins at Chai, and while standing there drooling over my newness won another one because there’s a random giftcard generator at Chai. YAY!

OH! I have this thing I need to bitch about. And well – I’s got a blog, so what the hell. The SL viewer right now – if you’re a designer, trying to do stuff, is a pain in the ass. I’m using the regular viewer to build – you can’t TAKE pictures because hair disapears on zooming in OR the jewelry disapears. I switch to the release candidate viewer to take pictures – FROM A distance – you can’t build jewelry in the release candidate because you CAN’T select prims that are situated near or around the chest attachment point. It also bitmaps the hair textures in my photos. I’m using the Nicholaz client Eye Candy EC-h to take close up photos so the hair doesna look all jagged..sometimes. And even though I think the Nicholaz viewer is the best, most stable viewer I’ve ever used, it really needs an update (please nicholaz, please update it…), because objects take forever to rez. This is completely ridiculous – LL needs to get on this. I’m losing track of what client/viewer I’m supposed to use for what. If the tools for content creators are completely borked (and believe me, there are other little quibbles that I just won’t bother to mention) then how can we CREATE CONTENT! Okay – I’m done beating the dead horse. I know that anything I’ve said has been said before. Rant over.
